The Stand 03:21
I want to be much more than I am I have to take a stand it's time for you to let go of my hand I have to take a stand I stood by you through thick and thin I trusted you like a best friend I loved you more than maybe you will every understand but I'm hopin that you can cus I need to fly now as high as I can I have to take a stand my heart's on fire, I must cool the flame it's time to stake a claim I'm liable to burn down this whole house and my name unless I stake a claim we break our promises daily and we make excuses, well we'll see if we wait every moment like water dripping down the drain wasted all away so let's burn these mistakes and put them out in the rain it's time to stake a claim the day so long but I can't see the light I must take back the night these hopes so old but still by my side I must take back the night how long have I dreamt to be free and strong enough to believe I was wrong to have given up so long before the fight now I long to make things right so I lay me down or take to the sky I must take back the night I must take back the night I must take back the night I must take back the night

I'm never a victim of random combustion but when you tossed me that look it felt like a grenade I usually toss out pins on a whim but you stumped me out from behind my guns I don't know how to behave and I said oooooh I still smell like you and my tear stains are all gone with your presence I choke on the essence of all of your sentiments

The Illusion 04:26
lately I've been looking for the answers from above maybe I've been questioning your true undying love could it be that you don't believe in all of the sweet love songs that we used to sing? maybe I've been trying too hard to look and talk and act real tough maybe I'm just angry cus you ain't trying hard enough maybe I'm just searching for a cure for our love that used to be so wild and free and pure and it's got me asking why why should I give in to the illusion give me a reason this'll work out fine I need a reason this'll work out fine cus I feel as though I'm losing my mind I want this to be the way that it used to be when we were so young and in love and so wild and carefree I want this to be just like the bliss of our first kiss oh babe, tell me how to get way back where we used to be maybe I just need to settle down cus I'm tired of running ragged all around this same damn town so maybe I can give in to the illusion maybe that is reason enough it'll work out fine but babe can you be the thing that I truly believe in can you be the reason this'll work out fine I need a reason this'll work out fine give me a reason this'll work out fine cus I feel as though we're wasting all our time (cus baby good love is hard to find)

I'm a sucker for chasing always love a good chase then I find myself running always running away there's no use in trying in trying to stay every time I give up on love it always winds up the same so hey, I can wait for love to pin me down my eyes have grown tired searching for what cannot be found I've seen good I want great and good things come to those who wait I will bide my sweet time flying around waiting for love to pin me down I'm a sucker for placing always first in line I'm never complacent like a young sweet wine but then I find myself rushing forward like a bull and this lack of patience is taking (is taking is taking is taking) it's toll so hey, I can wait for love to pin me down my eyes have grown tired searching for what cannot be found I've seen good I want great and good things come to those who wait I will bide my sweet time flying around waiting for love to pin me down it's a question of value and a question of worth and all of the beauty on this wide green earth but I feel like a flower trapped down in a dark place and I'm ready to go out and let the sun shine upon my face so hey I can wait for love to pin me down my eyes have grown tired searching for what cannot be found I've seen good I want great and good things come to those who wait I will bide my sweet time flying around and around and around and around waiting for love to pin me down waiting for love waiting for love to pin me down

moving on is never easy when you are where you want to be but we are creatures we are creatures of habit made my last cup of coffee cleared the shelves no traces of me grabbed my things and slipped the key under the door did you notice that I done this before an eye for an eye a tooth for a tooth I should have known should have seen it in the way you made me fall but as for I how could I have realized we are older change comes slower if it comes at all will you still want to see me will your next one be just like me cus we are creatures we are creatures of habit making history just to repeat it we are creatures we are creatures of habit and we were a good one you may struggle to break it

about

Creatures of Habit is Hannah Fairlight's debut EP. Fairlight has previously produced and released other small bodies of work independently, but her desire to create bigger more professional sounding recordings drove her to team up with producer/engineer and Alabama native Tom Tapley to create this album.

Together the two captured a group of 6 raw songs with strong southern rock influence, whose mood and lyric are drawn together by the theme of "habit"; ie, falling in and out of love, the threat of repeating mistakes.

Tapley and Fairlight's love and trust for live, organic music recorded to tape as well as experimentation with different instrumentation and sounds made them a powerful team on this collection of songs. For more about Tom, visit: kingmusicgroup.com/tomtapley/
